The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has begun contacting its funding recipients to let them know it is implementing the Department of Defense’s (DoD) recently announced 15% indirect cost cap for its future and existing DoD assistance awards. There is nothing for principal investigators to do in response to this notice.
Indirect cost rates are not negotiated with individual faculty or staff. If a PI or other faculty or staff member receives a letter or directive that proposes to change the terms of a grant or contract, they should coordinate with their research administrator and the ORSP Award Management Team as soon as possible.
