Alena Stocking

Alena Stocking joined the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) in July 2024 as the Chief of Staff. In this role, Alena works closely with the OVPR leadership to partner in setting short-, mid-and long-term priorities and coordinating the execution of strategy across the organization. She supports the OVPR team and represents the organization in crucial partnerships across campus.

Prior to joining OVPR, Alena held leadership positions at the University of Michigan in the Office of Enrollment Management, Medical School Administration, and Michigan Medicine development. She started her career working in the manufacturing industry in various business development, marketing and sales roles.

Alena holds a Bachelors in Business Administration (BBA) in marketing and human resources, and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in International Business and Finance, both from the University of Michigan. She is also a certified executive coach who provides coaching support to leadership across U-M.
