As a member of the OVPR leadership team, Professor Jackson plays a key role in positioning U-M as a leader in innovation, knowledge creation, and societal impact. She leads efforts to develop a structured approach to building and sustaining partnerships with academic institutions of different types, fostering research excellence, and enhancing the global visibility of U-M research.

Dr. Jackson co-leads the President’s Amplify Research initiative, which expands the impact of research discoveries and innovations to improve the quality of life for people across the state, nation and world.  She also serves as the faculty lead for Bold Challenges, a program that aligns U-M’s research strengths with national and global priorities. Additionally, she oversees the faculty research awards process.  Dr. Jackson has led the development and implementation of OVPR DEI 2.0 efforts, and she leverages her expertise to expand participation, foster collaboration, and advance research-related goals that support OVPR priorities and Vision 2034.

Jackson received a Ph.D. from the University of Washington, joined U-M in 2000, and is currently a professor in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Motivated by addressing critical challenges associated with cancer therapeutics, much of her research involves developing multiscale mathematical models to optimize novel combination treatment strategies. She is an award-winning educator and scholar who has received numerous honors for her accomplishments in both areas.
