Dr. Christopher Browne is a soft matter scientist and chemical engineer. He studies how polymers, proteins, and gels can modify the flow and phase behavior of biofluids. His work seeks to understand how these complex materials behave in “messy” settings with 3D disorder and transient driving reflective of those found in biology and medicine. The work uses a combination of material synthesis and characterization, device fabrication, and microscopy to connect insights from fundamental soft matter science to translational medicine. Dr. Browne attended Purdue University for his undergraduate, Princeton University for his PhD, and the University of Pennsylvania for his postdoctoral work. As a first-generation college student, he aims to expand programming to provide K-12 hands-on engagement with science and research. His lab seeks to provide a collaborative and accessible research environment that evens the playing field for incoming junior researchers.
