Shahana Chumki

Shahana Chumki joined the Office of the Vice President for Research in 2026 as Senior Project Manager for the Impact Institutes, where she manages strategic initiatives and partnerships that advance bold, interdisciplinary research across the university.

Prior to joining OVPR, Shahana served as Research Manager at the Michigan Institute for Data and AI in Society (MIDAS), where she managed competitive internal funding programs, cross-sector partnerships, and communities of practice. Before that, she worked in the UMMS Office of Research, where she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Research Operations, Management, and Strategy (ROMS) program.

She holds a Ph.D. in Cellular & Molecular Biology from UM Medical School and a B.S. in Biology from Eastern Michigan University.
