As director of faculty honorifics, Dr. Dyson works with faculty and staff to support nominations for external awards, prizes, fellowships, and prestigious societies and academies. He oversees a growing team building the infrastructure and coordinating strategies for high priority, limited submission nominations as part of the Amplify Initiative.

Dyson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga, a Masters of Arts in classical studies from the University of Missouri, and a Ph.D. in philosophy from Emory University. He taught as a lecturer and research fellow in U-M’s Departments of Philosophy and Classical Studies from 2005-2009, publishing on the Hellenistic period of Greek and Roman philosophy (Stoics, Epicureans, and Skeptics). Dyson served as the founding director of U-M’s Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships 2017-2023, coordinating nominations for prestigious undergraduate awards such as the Rhodes Scholarship and Truman Scholarship.
