Lois Brako

Assistant VP, Regulatory and Compliance Oversight

As assistant vice president for research, regulatory and compliance oversight, Brako coordinates activities related to the development and modification of campus-wide policies, procedures and strategic planning initiatives to help reduce regulatory burden for investigators. Brako is the director of U-M's Human Research Protection Program and she has oversight responsibilities for research involving human pluripotent stem cells, and for research subject to export controls and data security regulations. She also helps direct the Conflict of Interest Research Compliance Program, serves as a member of U-M's leadership team for electronic information management systems and is a member of the Laboratory and Research Safety Committee. At a national level, Brako serves on the Board of Directors of the Council on Governmental Relations and serves as a reviewer for the National Council of University Research Administrator Peer Program.
