David Thompson serves as the Director of Development for the University of Michigan Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR). With over a decade of philanthropic experience at the University of Michigan, David leads OVPR’s fundraising partnerships across campus, with a focus on catalytic investments in early, multidisciplinary research initiatives designed to translate research into public value. He began his philanthropic career at Duke University, having previous experience as a US Associate on the Capital Markets team (London, UK) at the global law firm Linklaters and as a member of the “launch team” for the Washington, DC-based Congressional Hunger Center’s bipartisan Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellows Program, for which he was the founding Director. David earned a Juris Doctor and LLM in International and Comparative Law at Duke University School of Law, and an MA in International Relations at the University of Chicago. He was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in the Middle East.
