Research Foundation Partnerships Office

The Research Foundation Partnerships Office supports collaborations between U-M faculty and leadership and non-profit funders who align with the university’s research mission. As part of the OVPR Amplify initiative, we position faculty members and research-centric centers and initiatives to identify, engage with and ultimately gain support from non-profit funding partners to advance the mission.

  • Provide insight into these organizations, including past funding decisions, existing relationships with U-M, and information about new directions
  • Support exploratory conversations and dialogues about potential partnerships
  • Provide editing for foundation-specific positioning in writing and presentations and support proposal development and internal approvals

Campus Partners

The office provides guidance on how to approach foundations, exchange ideas and write research proposals that target specific organizations, as well as facilitate proposal development and align university strengths. The team coordinates very closely with campus partners and services, including:

  • OVPR Research Development for proposal writing, design and management
  • OVPR Honorifics office for nominations to prestige awards from nonprofit funders
  • ORSP on proposal approvals and budgeting
  • The Office of University Development’s Foundation Relations team for philanthropic funding
