As assistant vice president for research, animal resources, King works closely with the Vice President for Research and other leaders to provide strategic leadership and a shared vision for ensuring sustained excellence in animal care and use across the university. King, a veterinarian, also serves in the positions of university attending veterinarian, executive director of the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine and clinical professor of laboratory animal medicine at the Medical School.
King previously worked at the University of Louisville, where he served concurrently as the attending veterinarian, associate vice president for research services and director of research facilities. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Rhodes College in Tennessee, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medical Science from Louisiana State University.
