As assistant vice president for research, regulatory and compliance oversight, Brako coordinates activities related to the development and modification of campus-wide policies, procedures and strategic planning initiatives to help reduce regulatory burden for investigators. Brako has oversight responsibilities for research involving human and animal subjects, human pluripotent stem cells, biological hazards, controlled substances and for research subject to export control regulations. She also serves as a member of U-M’s leadership team for electronic information systems. At a national level, Brako serves on the Board of Directors of the Council on Governmental Relations.
