Guidelines for Research Faculty Achievement Award

Nomination deadline: February 20, 2012

Eligibility: University of Michigan faculty with at least a 75% University appointment at the rank of Research Professor, Research Associate Professor, Research Scientist, or Associate Research Scientist. Tenured and tenure-track faculty are not eligible for this award.

Award: $1,500 to be conferred at the annual Faculty Awards Ceremony and Dinner hosted by the President each fall.

Selection Criteria: Outstanding scholarly achievements, as represented by significant contributions to an academic field of study over time, a specific outstanding discovery, or the development of innovative technology.

Nomination Process: Complete the Nomination Questionnaire and send it with the materials listed below to the Awards Committee by the deadline.

  • One-page (1) description of the qualities and accomplishments that make the individual a superior choice for the award.
  • CV for the nominee.
  • At least three (3) letters of support from a range of individuals knowledgeable about the nominee’s work that demonstrate the nominee’s significant contributions to his/her field.

Submission procedure: Send each nomination as a PDF to Lisa Turek, laturek@umich.edu, and supply one paper copy to Lisa Turek, OVPR – 4080 Fleming 1340

Deadline: Monday, February 20, 2012.

Selection: The award recipient is selected by the Vice President for Research based on the recommendation of the Research Faculty Awards Committee.

Announcement of Award: The recipient, if any, will be announced in early fall in coordination with the annual Faculty Awards dinner.
