Composer Takes Inspiration from the Highways and Byways of America
Michael Daugherty, professor of composition at the School of Music, Theatre & Dance, is mentor to some of today’s most talented young composers. One of the most commissioned, programmed, and recorded composers on the international scene today, Daugherty, whose music has entered the orchestral, band, and chamber music repertoire, is one of the ten most performed living American composers, according to the League of American Orchestras. U-M celebrates a century of dance on campus
Activities span June 10-14, 2009
The University of Michigan Department of Dance will present a series of performances and events, collectively entitled "Dancing at 100," in recognition of its century-long commitment to the teaching and perpetuation of the art of dance. Performers include dance faculty and students along with U-M dance alumni. A special exhibit featuring artifacts and photos of a century of dance at U-M will be held at the Bentley Historical Library. [read more...]
